In 2008 TRX was formalised, with the idea of one of our team, who was leaving and thought it could be a way everyone could stay in touch.
Your team is an integral part of your tribe
In 2005 the team were at our off-site planning day (or as we call it a Planning Expedition) when one of the team said:
“Kate, these days are great, I really enjoy them, but how do they benefit your bottom line?”
It was a good question and like many decisions you make along the way, they are initially for one or two reasons and, if all goes according to plan, have many more benefits.
I started Planning Expeditions
- To be a vehicle to implement ideas from business books so the maximum value is obtained. We all read books or go to events and get ideas that would improve our business or organisation, but rarely implement due to a lack of time or ‘head-space’. Using a book to create activities at a planning day made them more fun to read as I could visualise the concepts and get feedback from the team.
- Getting everyone off-site for a day allows the whole team to think about their value in the business and forces everyone to look at the business from a perspective other than their own.
- It is becoming more common for people to want to move from one position to another every 1-2 years. They are smart, switched on, motivated. If they really understand Tribe Research’s mentality then they might refer prospects to us later on. They also might get insights that they would let us know about which would help Tribe Research develop.
Over the years, ideas and activities progressed. The above points were true.
Eligibility: It’s simple; if you weren’t fired and you don’t work for a competitor – you’re in!
